Holiday Homemade Gifts
If you’re starting your Holiday shopping early, here’s an idea…make a gift from the heart! Personalized or homemade gifts are wonderful, and they show that you care!
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
-A photo album (online or homemade)
-An album with personal messages from loved ones, addressed to the recipient
-A Calendar for 2012 with 2011 photos.
-A digital frame with downloaded photos.
-A wall hanging or table top frame with multiple photos to be displayed with love.
If you do decide to make a gift, don’t procrastinate. Some personalized or homemade items take extra time to make, so start making them now, or get them ordered ASAP! Take into consideration online ordering deadlines, shipping end dates for the holidays, etc. For example, when making a digital photo book for the holidays, I have to upload photos, arrange them and order the book. I need to start working on it in November to get it in time for December holiday presents.
Start those Homemade gifts today!
Thank you,
Christie Gelsomino

Artwork Overload
Wondering what to do with the wonderful compilation of kids’ art? Caregivers should learn that they don’t have to save every single project made by a child. Here are a few great ideas to keep the memories but save some space.
• Post artwork temporarily to give the family a chance to admire it. To create a fancy refrigerator display, purchase a few 8×10 and 5×7 cardboard mattes. Glue plastic sleeves behind them to hold kids’ pictures, and attach magnets so they stick to the fridge. You can easily remove and rotate art as new creations arrive. Or dedicate a couple standard wall frames to hold kids’ artwork, and change out old art as new masterpieces arrive.
• As items are rotated out, store them in a drawer or even an unused pizza box. At year’s end, help kids select their top ten favorites to save. Then, take photos or videotape of three-dimensional art and toss the rest.
• Start an Art of the Month Club. Have kids select one piece of artwork each month to give to family and friends. (Grandparents love this idea!)
• As new artwork enters your home, ask yourself: “Is this different than other works we’ve already saved?” “Does it give me a glimpse into my child’s uniqueness?” “Does it make me laugh or cry?” Keep only those that really make an impact. Let the rest go so you can appreciate the best.

Be thankful to those around you!
Share your great memories with the loved ones that surround you this fall. Being thankful and grateful to the family members and friends that have shared a great year with you is a wonderful blessing and a great way to end the year.
What better way to say Thank You to your loved ones than to present a personal framed picture, a filled photo album, a personal scrapbook album, a journaled digital storybook, or a personal digital CD of pictures to those that have made this year a blessed and fulfilled year.
This fall show your appreciation to those that you are “Thankful” to have in your life.

Did you miss taking a picture of your child’s first day of school because he/she didn’t want their picture taken? Did you have too many other things on that first day to remember to take the picture? Wouldn’t it be neat to have some nice Back to School pictures of your child?
Here is great suggestion to help you with that problem. Take the pictures this upcoming weekend! Go to your child’s school when no one else is around and stand him/her in front of the school and voila! You have a picture to represent the first day of school. You and your child will be relaxed since it’s the weekend. Plus, it’s a great way to get some nice pictures of your child playing and really enjoying themselves. The pictures can be very casual and relaxed. You can take one real quick picture just to get that “First Day of School” picture or you can take many pictures and really capture the joy of your child’s excitement with school.
Documenting this year’s Back to School milestone can be a great pleasure with some awesome pictures taken of your child without the pressure of other kids seeing your child with their parents!
Enjoy the “Back to School” time and take some great pictures of your child!

Your vacation is over but do you have too many photos to even think about getting them organized?
No doubt you have toured some great sites, have relaxed on beautiful beaches and even driven enough hours in the car with certain family members that make you want to pull your hair out. Now, let’s talk about your photos!
You have most likely already uploaded them to Facebook to share with your family, friends, and more. But, maybe you want a little something more to remember your great 2009 Summer Vacation. Now, if you used my tip from the July newsletter you should have a nice journal to go along with those great pictures you have taken. So, now you need to decide if you want a physical version of those great pictures or not.
Deciding which pictures to delete, print, or upload can be very overwhelming. This August Newsletter Scrapbook Tip will help you solve that major issue.
First, seriously sit down for at least one hour and delete those unwanted pictures off your memory card. They can be the out of focus ones, 5 of the same picture ones, or just the silly pictures-DELETE them!
Second, decide which ones you want printed. If you have a photo box that holds countless amounts of photos-print them all. If you have a photo album that holds only 200 pictures-print only 200. If you want to design a scrapbook that holds an undetermined amount of pictures-then print the ones that would make a great scrapbook page. If you want a storybook that also holds an undetermined amount of pictures-then upload (not print) the ones you want to highlight in the storybook. Remember, you should have your journal from your trip so be sure to include the pertinent information along with the pictures, such as names of restaurants, new friends, and stories of mishaps and adventures.
Three, upload the pictures to your favorite online site and share them via the Interent with family and friends. No printing required; simple upload your pictures and share. Here are some great sites to share your pictures.
So, now you have three tips that can help you with your vacation pictures. I hope this has helped make a major task of vacation- photo-overload a bit easier. Now, back to school quickly approaches once vacations are finished, so get your vacation pictures checked off your list soon before you start a new list of back to school projects.
